| Friday, July 18, 2008 |

When we install new applications, Windows highlights the newly installed applications in start menu. Many users like this feature as it gives a distinct visual representation of the applications that are installed and not yet launched.

But few advanced users may not like this feature. For those who don’t like this feature, here is a quick and simple tip to stop Windows highlighting the newly installed applications.
1. Right click on the Start button and select Properties
2. Switch to Start Menu Tab and click on the button Customize.; Opens Customize Start Menu window.
3. Scroll down and uncheck the option Highlight newly installed programs
